A NEW ORGANISATION FOR THE MARSHES
|
It is with great pleasure that we can announce today, the 16th May 2005, the formation of the Longdon and Eldersfield Marsh Conservation Trust.
We are an independent organisation set up by the people who live and work on the two Marshes.
Our aims are: -
· To protect and enhance the landscape and habitat of Longdon and Eldersfield Marshes · To promote a thriving and sustainable working environment · To assess what we have in terms of wildlife, agriculture and biodiversity, and to be a hub for information and statistics concerning the Marshes · To promote sustainable communities i.e. Affordable housing for young locals, local employment and opportunities · To help local businesses to establish new markets and to introduce an easily recognisable logo so that particular products like beef, lamb, pork, mutton, venison etc. can be identified as coming from the rich pastures of the two marshes · To promote renewable energy sources e.g. The Marshes are ideally suited for biomass production for local schools etc. · To liaise with Lower Severn IDB on flood management issues, drainage maintenance and preservation of wildlife habitat · To be a forum for local people to discuss matters of concern within our local community |
